3 of the Craziest Pickleball World Records

There are times to take the game seriously. And there are times to enjoy the lighter side of pickleball. This, fellow pickleballers, is the latter. These pickleball world records remind us of the importance of having fun with the sport. And they also give us some inspiration to aim a little higher. Who’s with us?

Largest Pickleball Paddle
Smash Park in Des Moines, Iowa, is home to the world’s largest pickleball paddle named “Big Blue.” The paddle is 10 times larger than a regulation pickleball paddle, weighing 150 pounds and measuring 13.6 feet tall and 6.9 feet wide. Big Blue was constructed in 2019 and was made of enough material to create 180 normal pickleball paddles. That’s one heck of a sweet spot.

Longest Pickleball Game
Justin Lawrence and Jeffrey Baker played the longest pickleball game on record in 2011 in New Port Richey, Florida. The pair played for 24 hours straight in order to become the record-holders. When asked about it, the two said they were tired, but would definitely do it again. We love the game, but we’ll pass on 24 hours straight of it.

Largest Pickleball Tournament
Tennis Competitors of Dallas held the largest pickleball tournament in 2012. The tournament hosted 370 participants and was played in a round-robin format. Sandy Cassday and Karen Spika came out on top to win the whole thing.

These unique feats are nothing short of impressive. Clearly, though, there is room for more pickleball in the record books, so grab your pals and get to it! And let us know when you do.
