Building A Pickleball Paddle Like None Other…the Story of Legacy Pickleball

With so many pickleball paddles entering the market daily how do you even begin to think about trying to build yet another one?  Unless of course, it’s not like any other one.  That’s the story of Legacy Pickleball, a start-up company that was birthed from a hobby that became a passion.  As accomplished players themselves, Chris Dickert and John Petty, decided they’d develop a paddle from the ground up with the player in mind and thus the creation of the Legacy Pro paddle.

A Paddle With A Purpose

Even with their brilliant design in mind, there was another more important driver and dare I say motivator.  That being Mental Health.  In light of everything we as a people have been through over the past two years or more, mental health for all people is front-and-center in the conversation.  Starting an honest conversation about mental health and our awareness of it is part of the mission.  Along with creating a Junior paddle called “Prodigy” to include our youngest players. In fact, Chris named one of their Junior paddles after his daughter Ellie!

But the good news is that pickleball in some unique way provides much-needed relief in a positive way.  The ability for us to go out and exercise and at the same time have fun brings about many good physical and mental benefits.  This speaks to the welcoming nature of this sport where anybody can play and enjoy the experience of pickleball.  Both Chris and John are committed to fostering awareness and dialog around mental health and if pickleball is the vehicle for that all the better.

Pickleball the Outlet for the Daily Grind

Aside from the terrific physical and mental benefits of pickleball, it definitely is an outlet for our day-to-day challenges with work, family, and other personal circumstances.  The guys at Legacy are trying to give back to the sport that has given so much to not only them but to all of us.

What’s So Different About the Legacy Paddle?

Let’s begin with its unibody construction, meaning the paddle and handle are one single-formed piece.  Next is the thermoforming, which seals off the core and provides greater reinforcement of the edge while reducing vibration with truer performance around the edges of the paddle.  With its 16mm thickness, it has terrific power and control.  Also, the carbon fiber surface employs a special layering combined with an ample amount of dwell time.  The handle length is 5.3” which is enough room for hand size as well as a median weight of approximately 8.0 oz.  The Legacy Pro is well-balanced fresh out of the package and can withstand the stress and demands of any player.

More Than Just Another Paddle Company

Chris and John are committed to improving the design and performance of their paddles which is a mouthful as this first offering has about all that anybody could wish for and then some.  Additionally, they know that the future of pickleball rests with our kids, our youngest players, and developing products that help nurture and grow the game is the name of the game.

But for them, building you the best-performing paddle is only part of their passion, as they focus on how pickleball can impact mental health in a positive way.   In many ways, it’s their “Legacy”.
